Below you will find a list of the most commonly asked questions regarding cakes. If there is anything that you still need to know, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

  • What flavour will my cake be and what fillings are used?

All cakes are a moist vanilla madeira filled with jam and buttercream unless otherwise specified. Other flavours include lemon, chocolate or coffee sponge filled with lemon, chocolate or coffee buttercream. Generally, vanilla or chocolate madeira is the recommended flavour used for childrens cakes, and has proved the most popular. However, older tastes can be more sophisticated so alternatively, if you prefer something a little different, you can choose Belgian chocolate, chocolate orange,  rich moist carrot cake (with rum soaked raisins), Amaretto cherry (with the gorgeous flavour of Amaretto liqueur added) or Devils Food Cake, a gorgeous combination of chocolate and coffee. These cakes are an additional cost of £5-£10, depending upon the size of the cake.

  • Do you have a price list?

Most cakes are individually priced and prices can be seen by clicking on the thumbnails of each photo. Some cakes, particularly fairy cakes, miniature cakes and cookies have a price range. Others are priced depending on size chosen. Please always enquire.

  • How much notice do I need to give for an order?

Generally speaking, the more notice the better! Ideally, at least a month to avoid disappointment but there is sometimes room for a last minute order,so it is always worth ringing in case! Availability is dependent on the number of orders being processed at that time and occasionally there may not be resources to meet demand. You can, of course, place an order as far in advance as you wish.

  • How long will my cake last?

Sponge, chocolate and lemon cake will keep up to a week after delivery as long as wrapped and stored properly. It is recommended that once the cake is cut any left overs be wrapped securely in cellophane or foil to keep the cake fresh. Serviettes and tissue absorb moisture from a cake and can cause it to dry out so are not recommended so if handing out cake slices after a party, always wrap in foil.

  • Do you make Gluten, Egg, Nut or Dairy Free Cakes?

I do not currently make gluten, dairy or egg free cakes. The cakes do not contain nuts as an ingredient but there may be nut traces present. All cakes are made with vegetable fats and contain dairy products.

  • How do I get my cake?

Currently we are not able to deliver. Cakes are collected personally on a date specified in advance. They come boxed, complete with candles, ready for collection.

  • How many will my cake serve?

Most  two dimensional novelty cakes serve 35. Exact dimensions are not offered as each cake is individually hand crafted in freehand, however cakes look big and carry a great impact, as can be seen! Three dimensional shaped cakes can vary in size depending on design and some may be offered in different sizes - please always enquire. Round, square and tiered cakes are generally made according to number of servings required.

  • How should I store my cake?

All cakes should be stored in a cool dark place on a flat surface. They should never be refrigerated and should be left in their box until required.

  • What style of cake can I have?

Anything at all! There are no limits to your imagination and the aim is always to produce the cake of your dreams! The galleries are here to inspire you but please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss anything that you may not see here or any ideas that you have in mind. I love to create new bespoke cakes tailored to your individual needs! Alternatively, if you see something in a book or magazine that you love, I would be happy to base a cake on that.

  • I like a cake on your website but would like a variation. Is that possible?

No problem at all. I can base a design on any of the existing range and then alter it to your specific desires. In particular, all cookies and fairy cakes can be tailored to suit your colour and decoration preference. The photographs are for inspiration, but please feel free to be as creative as possible!

  • How will my cakes/ fairy cakes/ cookies be presented?

All Cakes come boxed. Fairy cakes can be plattered, individually wrapped or cellophane wrapped on a board and boxed for a gift. The same applies to cookies. Please ask us and packaging will be tailored to suit your needs.

  • Do you make any other types of cake?

My range also includes fantastic brownies and various flavoured muffins (Banana & Choc Chip; Blueberry & Buttermilk, Snickers & Peanut Butter and Double Chocolate to name but a few!) , all of which are presented in bags and cellophane wrapped. Ideal for gifts! I am also pretty versatile at making undecorated cakes, given that I love baking, so please always enquire!

  • Wedding Cakes

I now make extremely personal and contemporary wedding cakes. Not interested in fruit cake or traditional flowers but after something a bit more individual? Then you have come to the right place! Rich chocolate cake filled with a Belgian chocolate ganache? Lucious lemon, soaked with Limoncello and layered with lemon curd buttercream? Sophisticated coffee laced with Tia Maria and coffee buttercream, or how about almond with Amaretto, and perhaps cherries and layered with a gorgeous almond buttercream?
